Dr. Seema Rao is a world-renowned commando trainer, martial artist, and a pioneer in close quarter battle (CQB) training in India. She is the first and only woman in India to have trained various Indian Special Forces like the NSG, the commandos of the Indian Army, the Navy, and the Air Force, among others.
Dr. Rao is also a highly trained martial artist and a black belt in various forms of combat techniques including Judo, Karate, Taekwondo, and Krav Maga. In addition, she is also trained in various weapons including knives, guns, and improvised weapons.
Apart from her training, Dr. Rao is also a qualified doctor and has worked as a volunteer doctor during various natural disasters. She has also authored various books on martial arts and self-defense.
In recognition of her contribution to the field of self-defense and CQB training, Dr. Seema Rao has been honored with several awards including the Rani Laxmi Bai Award and the Nari Shakti Puraskar.
